Meet the Staff

Dr. Bain

Dr. Bain graduated from Auburn University’s College of Veterinary Medicine in 2000. He specializes in small animal medicine and surgery. He’s been practicing in Cleveland, TN for over two decades.

He and wife, Chrissy, are owners of Visiting Pet Vet and New Hope Pet Vet which they opened in 2011. Along with their two children, they reside in Bradley County where they have a small farm. They have several rescue pets and farm animals that you may have the opportunity to see when you visit New Hope Pet Vet.

Dr. Casey

Like many children, Dr. Casey DeCook had early visions of becoming a veterinarian (as told by her kindergarten art). Her “Aha!” moment occurred while working her high school job at a boarding facility – a dog was injured and she didn’t know how best to help, but she had to try.

Following graduation from Lincoln Memorial University-College of Veterinary Medicine, Dr. Casey practiced small animal medicine in nearby Chattanooga. She soon felt a strong pull to return home to Cleveland.

She feels the key to veterinary medicine is embracing the human-animal bond, as the owners know their pet best! She hopes to build friendships with her patients and their parents to help navigate all life stages.

Her favorite aspects of medicine include dentistry, dermatology, and hospice care – components that can greatly affect a pet’s daily comfort.

In her downtime, Dr. Casey is spending time with her husband Beau, their poorly mannered mutt, and their two cats. She enjoys hiking, kayaking, and reading.

Office Staff:

Liz – Business Manager

Since I was a small child, animals have been a very important part of who I am.

Working in animal health care has kept my heart happy for more than 30 years. Dr. Bain and I first met at a veterinary hospital in Cleveland where I was an office manager. Soon after that, he became a licensed veterinarian and began working there.

As time went on, I became self-employed. For the next 15 years I provided professional pet sitting in Cleveland and Bradley County. I transitioned from my business to become Dr. Bain’s Business Manager for New Hope Pet Vet.  I also enjoy being the voice on the other end of the phone when you call for your pet care needs.

When I am not working you will find me having fun with my three English Setters or volunteering for A Better English Setter Rescue.

Amy – Hospital Manager

I was born and raised in Central New York. I know, I am not a fan of the cold and snow either!

In 2013 my husband, myself and our three children took a quick visit south to escape a winter that would never end, and on our way back, we joked that we were moving south. After a series of crazy coincidences and perfectly fitting puzzle pieces, we packed up and started our adventure to our little farm in Tennessee.

I met Dr. Bain in 2014 when he treated my sick goat and after chatting, we scheduled a working interview for that same Friday and I’ve been working for him ever since!

When I am not at work, I enjoy traveling, gardening and most anything related to nature…. except spiders!

Lori – Office Manager

My husband and I moved to the Cleveland area in 2008 and have made Polk County our home.

I first met Dr. Bain in 2014 as a client with two new Dachshund puppies and a 5-year-old mutt named Jack. On my visits as a client, I always thought it would be so cool to work at New Hope Pet Vet and for Dr. Bain and Chrissy. When the opportunity arose to be an employee I was literally scared and said I could not do the job! But Chrissy asked me to pray about it and I started working at New Hope Pet Vet in 2019 as a “temporary” kennel tech (I put myself on the temp list) and it turned out to be the best job I have ever had! I love each and every single pet I get to care for and play with while “working.”

When I am not “working” I love spending time with my husband, finding a new road in my Jeep, or just relaxing with a good book.

Andrea – Receptionist

Born in Southern California, I moved in the fall of 2016 to Tennessee. I live with my husband, 4-year-old son and two kitties. I am a self-proclaimed kitty whisperer. I enjoy spending time with my family and traveling home to California.

I started working at New Hope Pet Vet in the summer of 2017 in boarding as a kennel tech. I began my journey as Dr. Bain’s evening vet assistant in the winter of 2018. Working my way up through the years, I am excited and ready to learn more. I enjoy being apart of this wonderful team and have met many wonderful clients and pets alike.

Techs and Assistants:

Linzy – Licensed Veterinary Medical Technician

I graduated from Rend Lake College with an associate degree in Veterinary Technology in 2010 and became a licensed Veterinary Medical Technician shortly after. I moved here from Southern Illinois in the summer of 2019. I live with my husband and 3 large dogs. I have a chocolate Lab, Elsie Rae and two Great Danes, Willow Moon and Ember Sky. When I’m not at the office I enjoy doing anything outdoors; hiking, camping, kayaking and gardening etc.

Kennel Staff:

The Kennel Staff at New Hope Pet Vet is top notch! Each staff member goes through highly detailed training because we want your pet(s) to have an exciting, relaxing and safe stay while in our care. We truly enjoy caring, playing and loving on all types of animals. We hold our kennel staff to a very high standard and they are overseen directly by the Office Manager and Veterinarians.

Maintenance Manager:

Travis

I married my wife, Lydia, in 1998 and we have four kids and five grandkids. When not at work, I pastor a church in McMinn County and I enjoy trips with my wife, hunting, fishing, and all outdoor activities.

Dolly

Dolly’s Story as told by Dr. Bain

For many years I had a tiny Yorkie named Suzie that rode with me on the vet truck.  She was my shadow and she went with me everywhere. Unfortunately, she passed away unexpectedly and I was devastated.  For months, I was unable to consider getting a new work buddy, until little Dolly came into the office one day and needed a new home.  From the start she fit right in.  She was an answer to my prayers.  Not only did she fill that giant whole in my heart but I couldn’t imagine a more perfect little companion for me.  It wasn’t until months later that I realized the whole story.  My wife was researching the meaning of names and out of curiosity she looked up the name Dolly (the name she came with).  I almost cried when I found out that “Dolly” means “a gift from God.”
